POETIC_FUNCTION

   What I expect from poetry -- and rarely recieve --
   is a feeling that the author is groping on the
   cutting edge of cognition, I want to see a thinker
   trying to get at something that they don't (yet?)
   know how to reach in any other style of art.

                            KNOWS_SOMETHING

                                   LOST_WORLDS_OF_UNKNOWN_TOMORROWS


        But what connection can their be this
        and the common stylistic focus of
        poetry?  Why expect it to have any
        value as proto-philosophy?


                 Here, I gesture toward a
                 "linguistic theory of understanding":


                 The structure of language is related
                 to the structure of thought.
                                                             DOUBLET
                      Playing with the first is a
                      reasonable way-- though not               FRACTURED_WORDS
                      the only way, nor necessarily
                      the best way-- of trying to
                      get at the second
