   Throughout 2024, it was remarkably difficult to
   get across the point to Democrats that the main
   reason to care about the Gaza Genocide was
   a moral one.

   They would continually go back to discussing
   political strategy, and try to claim that this
   was something that couldn't be touched on
   without losing the election.

       They couldn't really get that case to
       hold up very well, and seemed incapable
       of hearing the point:

       When it's a choice between political risk
       and genocide, you're supposed to take
       the political risk.


           It was like their brains had
           been broken by electoral politics.






            The point that I'd make is that "realpolitik" is
            often only half-smart, and there's something to
            be said for keeping it simple and trying to do
            the Right Thing.

            A good sign that you're not doing the Right
            Thing is you need the head of the state
            department to lie about what's happening and
            ignore the advice of his own staff to hide the
            fact you're violating the law.
