                                          V.Vale, of
                                          RE/Search.


       "I know I'm an _irony victim_:
        I'm going to be cursed the rest            NEO-IRONY
        of my life."


        "My 'needs' are completely artificial;
        I only create them in order to be
        sated.  When I visit a thrift store,
        I have to leave with _something_ ..."

       "And the scary thing is: there's nothing
       'alternative' about this; this is what
       we're all conditioned to do by our                  MATERIAL_WORLD
       culture.  Advertising creates artificial
       needs that we buy into-- we go purchase
       that thing, and we're 'fulfilled.' That's
       essentially the mind game I'm playing
       with myself.  ...  I haven't shaken off
       that cultural training _to shop_."
