Bowie covered a lot of territory
over the years-- his genius for
self-reinvention has long been a Another well-established cliche is
cliche, and there are times when to comment on the plethora of
conventional wisdom isn't wrong. Bowie memorials and commentary,
                                         and then add still another.
   It's also not exactly a
stunning insight to remark on MISMATCHED_PAIR
his ability to play with the
stuff of persona-- he would go
   into character on stage, and
   *stay* in character off stage,
and then later, he would start
   doing interviews leveling with
you about how it was all an
act, but while doing that I
think he was playing still VORTEX
   *another* character.

Bowie was always really slippery and shifty
in a way that I think completely defeats
those who want to feel like they *get* what
he's about. There's something disturbing "President Joe,
about living with the prescence of a once had a dream--"
   ferocious intelligence that's essentially
   unknowable.

Iman comments in interviews that she
fell in love with David Jones,
and that "David Bowie" was just a
character he played. I submit that
         that's entirely plausible, but that
         it's *also* plausible that the
"David Jones" was a character he
played for an audience of one.
