Okay, let's see.  I think it'd be cool if we had:

  o A web site where citizen volunteers could do "original
    research" in various subjects, without subversion from
    hired-gun propagandists and spammers.

  o A really good, affordable recumbant bicycle that could
    fold-up to be carried easily on public transit.

  o Urban planning departments that are up-to-speed with Jane
    Jacobs, circa 1961.

  o A genuinely "mainstream media" rather than a corporate media
    trying to pass itself off as the vox populi.

  o A Democratic president that was willing to act like he'd
    actually won the election.

  o A NASA (or commercial substitute) that wanted to work on a
    useful project, like solar power satellites at the L1 point.
