I have trouble understand why everyone who's critical of Israel
is required to state that they hate Hamas:

Ezra Klein:
  "Hamas is an indefensible organization led by fanatics and murderers."

And Israel isn't?  (The US isn't?)

Indefensible?  We have all sorts of ways of justifying
killing when it's Our Side doing it, you can't stretch to
find a way to apply one to Hamas, even as a hypothetical
exercise?

Run through the basic history of modern Israel:
  (1) formed in '48 on land seized by the UN,
  (2) expanded by conquest in '67
  (3) an apartheid state, a "liberal democracy"
      where one ethnicity is always more equal

(And this skips many a vicious, thinly justified miltary
action... Gaza is just the latest.)

Try to imagine you've been on the recieving end of that
treatment.  Can you swear you wouldn't be looking for some
sort of underground restistance movement to join?  You're
sure you wouldn't become a "terrorist"?

If Iran had a history like Israels, wouldn't we be calling
them a bunch of dangerous, uncivilized fanatics?
