Yeah, sure there were.  The
Dangerbaby and her freinds          DANGERBABY
were clearly goths in the
early 80s, but they had no            (They thought of
such label for what they were.         themselves as
                                       "new wave".)

Go back before that, listen to
some of Nico's solo stuff like
"Frozen Borderline", or for that
matter listen to The Doors doing
"The End", or "People are
Strange", or the Velvet Underground's
"Venus in Furs".

Is this not goth?
